Root Canal Therapy
Root Canal Therapy in Abilene, TX
When people hear the words “root canal”, they think of pain and extreme discomfort. Fortunately, that’s no longer the case. At Linn Family Dental, with our advanced techniques, we make the experience as easy as possible.
In reality, a root canal is a gentle procedure to relieve pain, not cause it. Our dentists will ensure your complete comfort before proceeding.
What Is Root Canal Therapy?
A root canal is a space in the middle of a tooth root containing dental pulp, or soft tissue, and the nerve. Sometimes, a tooth decays to the point it can’t be restored with a filling. Pain and infection follow, and if the nerve is not removed, the tooth will have to be extracted. Our goal is to save the tooth wherever possible; root canal therapy is the answer.
A simple root canal might take an hour or less, while back molars will take longer. Our dentists ensure the area is completely numb; nitrous oxide (laughing gas) is available upon request. Once the procedure is done, the tooth is very happy, and feels a lot better!
